This Sunday, The Chapel was honored to welcome Pastor James Wright, a faithful servant of God. As Pastor Jeremy & Michele celebrated their son’s wedding this weekend, Pastor Wright delivered a powerful and timely message titled “The Man Who Refused to Give Up.”
Rooted in Mark 10:46–52, the story of Blind Bartimaeus, Pastor Wright’s sermon was a deep dive into the kind of faith that perseveres, even when the world tells you to stay silent.
🙏 Persistent Faith That Gets God’s Attention
Pastor Wright opened with a reminder from Hebrews 11:6:
“Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
True faith, he shared, isn’t about faith in faith—it’s about faith in a living, listening, and responding God.
Bartimaeus was blind. He was also poor. And on this particular day, he was sitting by the roadside in Jericho when he heard that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, he cried out:
“Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” — Mark 10:47
Despite being rebuked by the crowd, Bartimaeus only cried out louder.
Pastor Wright drove home this point: Delay is not denial. Just because Jesus didn’t respond immediately doesn’t mean He wasn’t listening.
✋ Jesus Stopped for a Desperate Cry
Jesus didn’t ignore Bartimaeus. He stopped.
And when Jesus asked him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” Bartimaeus didn’t hesitate—he asked boldly and clearly:
“Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”
This moment shows us the power of being specific in prayer. Pastor Wright encouraged us not to be vague with God. He already knows—but He wants you to ask in faith.
Jesus’ response?
“Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
✨ 5 Life-Changing Lessons from Blind Bartimaeus
1. Faith Must Be Active. Bartimaeus didn’t wait silently—he acted on what he heard. Faith moves. Faith cries out.
2. Don’t Let the Crowd Silence You. Even when voices try to hush your hope, keep calling on Jesus. Your cry matters.
3. Jesus Honors Boldness. When you pursue Him relentlessly, He responds. Not always instantly—but always faithfully.
4. Leave the Old Life Behind. Bartimaeus threw off his beggar’s cloak, symbolizing a shift from brokenness to belief. Transformation begins with faith.
5. Be Ready to Follow. Healing is the beginning, not the end. Like Bartimaeus, we’re called to get up and follow Jesus into a new life.
🌟 You’re Closer Than You Think
Pastor Wright closed with this truth: “The day of miracles is not over.”If you’ve been praying and waiting, don’t give up. Help is on the way.
“All things are possible to those who believe.” — Mark 9:23
This message reminds us that God still responds to persistent, passionate, faith-filled cries. Like Bartimaeus, you might be one prayer away from the breakthrough you’ve been waiting for.
